Happy Baby

Last night was my first night in the crib. Of course, I had slept there off and on for naps and such. But, last night was the night that mom and dad decided I should sleep there the whole time. I did wake up three times throughout the course of the night, but I made it. Surprisingly enough, mom even looked well rested when she came in to get me this morning...I was thinking she might not sleep at all with this transition.

Tummy Time

Well, I've been working on strengthening my neck muscles daily, but man my head is heavy. I've only been able to get about an inch of clearance between my chin and mattress so far. I need to keep working on this since my new goal is to get in the baby bjorn...forward facing. Dad says I will like the carrier much more in that position. Posted by Picasa

5 Weeks Old!

I made it to 5 weeks. Last check at the doctor, on 2/21, has me at 9 lbs. and 21 inches. These stats still put me right on the average for baby girls in the U.S. However, dad is calling me a "porker". But despite my pudgy face, mom and dad think I'm still pretty cute.

Some of My Favorite Toys

I have discovered the blue elephant to my right and the mirror to my left. These two items on my gymini are my most favorite. Yes, I like to look at myself for minutes...not hours. The elephant however, is a different story. This elephant has rattles in its feet, which I get my hands tangled up in while making noise. It also does this neat trick when mom pulls it down towards me, it vibrates and makes noise on the way back up!

Another one of my other favorite toys is my new silver rattle from my dad (a Valentine's day present). It's like a tiny barbell and I have to be careful when I'm swinging it around to hear the bells. I must say, it doesn't feel very good when I bop myself in the head with it.

And, not pictured here, is my black and yellow bumblebee. This was a special gift to my mom, from her mom, when she was getting married to my dad. It's bright colors have helped me learn to track objects. I now watch this toy an entire 180 degrees! It also keeps me occupied when I get my diaper changed...mom has it hanging over my head.

Mom and Me

For all of those who wondered where the pictures were of my mom with me, we had a short delay in posting because she needed to get a haircut. So, the two of us took a big trip to the salon last Tuesday and I watched as her long hair quickly became short hair. I didn't realize that the few tugs I had given her hair would result in such a drastic decision. But, we're both smiling because mom is much more willing to be photographed with me. In fact, this week we're going to go get some professional pictures taken! Posted by Picasa

Big Girl Bath

I took my first bath in the bath tub tonight. Mom filled the tub up so I could sit in the warm water. I got to play and I loved it. (I played by swinging my arms and legs which is why this picture is fuzzy, plus mom wanted to post a modest picture.) Dad came in to check me out and he gave me a mohawk. This was the best bathtime experience ever! I didn't get cold, I didn't have to get moved all around, and I got a warm and cozy robe afterward. Thank heavens that cord is gone, baths in the tub verse baths on the counter, I'll take the tub any day or night.

This was also a great experience for mom. I didn't cry, she didn't get wet, and Dad helped get me dressed afterward. This meant that mom could clean up my bath stuff right afterward which made the whole process much faster.

Yes! I Have a Belly Button

Finally! After trying for 4 weeks to reconnect to my mom, I realized it wasn't going to happen and my cord fell off. I am now proudly sporting an innie belly button. Mom is very thankful that the alcohol and Q-tips are not part of my daily changing routine, especially in the middle of the night. I am also very excited that I can now get a complete bath!

Happy Valentine's Day

I'm sending a big hug to everyone today. We celebrated here at home and I gave dad his first present from me, a picture frame with pictures of me! He loved it and took it to work today to put on his desk.

Kick n' Play

Many thanks to John for loaning me his kick n' play. This has been a lifesaver for mom when she wants to get ready in the morning. I had not been using the light and music bar until yesterday when dad put it on. It's awfully cool as it plays music, has multi-color lights (which I love), and has rattles on it as well. He was making it do all of these cool things! Then, this morning...I figured it out for myself! If I kick hard enough and in the right places, it lights up for me too!Mom was shocked at my strength and talent.

3 Weeks Old!

Wow! Has it really been three weeks! I'm thinking pretty hard about this and yep, it's been three weeks! Life has picked up quite a bit for me as mom becomes more and more confident about going out with me. In fact, tomorrow we have a lunch date with dad. I am so excited. I do get to see him every evening, which is usually my short fussy time, so it will be nice for him to see me happy (or sleeping) and it will be a good break from his work.

Mom thinks that I am doing very well for such a tender age. I have been smiling, holding my head up, and have just figured out how to make the kick n' play seat that John loaned me how to make noise. Picts of this to come soon! Posted by Picasa

Smiles and Playtime

I'm working up to a genuine smile. Although, I did smile at mom a few times yesterday, of course the camera was nowhere to be found at that moment. However, we did catch a few glimpses of a smile while I was having my daily playtime.

Playtime for me is great on this gymini. Mom has loaded it with a ton of toys and there are rattles all around me on the floor. There is so much to take in! My favorite playtime toy is this rattle that is almost as big as me (not shown in pictures). I have successfully hit it, rolled it, and just watched it. Every once in a while, mom will roll it around and I'll be amazed by the noise it makes. I generally get in playtime about three times a day now for about 15 minutes each time. This seems to give mom just enough time to keep you all updated on the blog about what I'm doing and how I'm changing.

My First Date

Well I would've called it a playdate but alas, I can't really play yet. So I'm going with just date. Yes, it was chaperoned, don't worry. Mom took me over to Mr. and Mrs. Connell's to go for a walk with John, a very special friend of mine. We went inside and John admired me while mom and Mrs. Connell got us ready. Then we moved the date outside to the strollers.

We went for a long walk and I slept for the whole thing. Don't get me wrong, I find John interesting and all but the car ride and the sun just tires me out.

Dressed in my Sunday Best

My first dress was purchased on Saturday from Janie and Jack. Nana insisted that I have a dress for church on Sunday and these really cute tights that have pink mary janes on them where my feet go. In fact, the tights and dress were so important that Nana was doing alterations on the dress on Saturday night. (We had to move the buttons and take it up about two inches.) The dress is still a little too big, but this just means that I'll get some good wear out of it.

So, Sunday was a big day for me! Mom, Dad, Nana, and me all went to church. Dad let me know that we were going into the Lord's house, can't start that discipline too early you know, and that I should behave and use my quiet cry. Well, I made it through without a peep. Mom had to leave once with me so I could get my mid-morning snack, but when we came back I was wide eyed and totally captured by our Pastor, David Cassidy's, booming voice. The weather was cold, so we didn't stay long to visit with all of our friends. Dad had me all covered up anyway so I couldn't see anyone! Oh well, maybe next week the weather will be warmer. Just Ducky

Mom couldn't stand the pink anymore and today I got all dressed up in my yellow ducks. Funny, I thought dad would object first. There are alot of yellow and green clothes in my wardrobe that just hadn't been put to use yet, so mom broke them out today. (I guess these generic colors are what I must endure since my parents insisted that my gender be a surprise.) Thank heavens for Grandma Randall, Aunt Trish, Nana, Aunt Markie, cousin Chanie, and all of my wonderful friends who have supplied me with a wide variety of girl clothes to pick from. My First Outdoor Adventure

My first trip in my stroller was a success! I napped while mom and Nana strolled me around. Though at times I felt like I had to hold on for dear life, as you can see in my picture. This is definitley not the all-terrain jogging stroller my dad got for my mom at Christmas. Those 22" wheels will provide a much smoother ride!Needless to say I can't wait to go for my first run with mom in 22 weeks! (The Dr. says I need to be 6 months old before that adventure.) Not that mom or I are counting. Until then, I will enjoy the fresh air and the walks in my lightweight, highly versatile stroller that dad researched and picked out for me. Posted by Picasa

Nana and Me

Nana came to see me and help out mom just like Grandma did. She got here on Jan. 31st and will be leaving on Feb. 5th. Nana and granddad live in Missouri, so it's been nice to get some time with her before I get too big. It's also been great for mom who has been out doing some errands today. Posted by Picasa

2 Weeks Old!

Happy Birthday to me! I've made it through 2 weeks or 14 days of life outside the womb. I'm still adjusting and have had a few fussy periods, but all-in-all I guess this isn't so bad. Then again, life can't be bad when you have Grandma, PaPa, Nana, Granddad, visitors, mom, and dad all clamoring to hold me, rub my back, feed me, change me, rock me to sleep, tell me I'm beautiful etc. (Life must be tough for all those toddlers out there.) At the 3 week mark I will have flown solo with mom for 4 days straight. Check back to see what type of adventures we have had together. Posted by Picasa
